The Supervisor has determined that the entire back wall is cactus. We’ve known for a number of months now that something was wrong, because part of the previously completed wall had collapsed into our back patio area. We knew in early March. Looks like, two months later, the Supervisor noticed the collapsed wall and so we get an email from Smart Homes: “Supervisor has advised that a whole wall had to be rectified, which has caused delays with brickwork completion. Supervisor is currently waiting on frames to be delivered, in order to have some progress.” We reckon the dog ate the Supervisor’s homework as well.

I’ve received some criticism on the length of these blog posts. Oh, sorry – yes, I remember now, from when I was working – it’s called ‘constructive feedback’. It’s either a problem with these posts being too long, or they are not aligned with the readers’ attention spans. Either way, I always receive constructive feedback well, on account of how much of it I’ve received over the years. But as it happens, I agree with this reader that the posts would be better snappier and more frequently published. So, from now on there’ll be less prevarication, less beating about the bush. Less bombastic oration, less balderdash, less grandiloquence. Less reliance on online thesauruses! Or is it Thesaurii?

Therefore, to close this shorter post, I’d like to ponder what our upcoming ‘Brick Meeting’ might entail. Apparently, it’s a meeting everyone has during the build, with the Supervisor on-site. But why? What’s the purpose? What will we discuss? Maybe it’s a meeting where we get an opportunity to ask technical questions, like “can you go faster, please?” Or maybe the Supe is going to tell us some brick jokes, like “I was wondering why everyone kept telling me that juggling bricks was a bad idea. And then it hit me”. Or maybe it’s a Brickie “show-and-tell”, where we each bring our favourite brick along and get 4 minutes to convey an amusing story involving the brick. I’ll let you know.
Ignore the negative feedback #Stevo. I think your blog is of an,,, acceptable standard.
@miltaryman: It’s not negative feedback, it’s an ‘improvement opportunity’. I miss working for our colonial cousins… And thanks for the almost compliment, high praise indeed!
Oh my god I cant believe the wall fell down , what the hell !!!! Gosh lets hope everything else goes alright . I love your blogs and the photos , so keep them up !
@Maree: Thanks, fingers crossed…
Bloody hell! What a nightmare. The only good thing is you haven’t moved into the place yet! Could’ve been a nasty shock in the middle of the night or a “darling did the earth (or in this case wall) move for you too” incident!
On the plus side, if you like, I can tell our local “Brick Thief” neighbour and she’ll be round like a shot and take them away for you!
@FingerBender: The earth is moving for me all the time. GPS shows that Australia is moving in a Northeasterly direction at a rate of 6cm per year. In addition to this, the earth is moving around the sun at an average speed of 29.78 km/s, as well as spinning on its axis about once every 24 hours, which is an equivalent speed of around 1,600 km/h as measured at the equator. No wall collapse is going to keep up with that!
Thanks admin for that rivetting but somewhat useless information. Though I suppose it may come in handy if your brick wall collapses🤔. We’re just on our way out to dinner at friends (yes we do have some) and I might slip that snippet of information in if the conversation lags. I’m sure it will liven up the night! Thanks again! 😘
And admin…
I note your sly allusion to past injuries! 😠ðŸ˜
We’ve been looking at bricks laid
2000 years ago, and they’re still standing. Bill said he hopes your not shitting bricks.
Personally , since the description of the number of lights early on, I’m hanging out for the lights , so every delay means just longer to wait till the beacons are lit
So my constructive criticism is to stop using weak excuses and get this blog progressing to practical completion otherwise interest may wane.
On a side note about the previous post, the carrying of a UAV by a person on the ground as a camera, nullifies every letter of that TLA.
