Tile and Stone Milestone

We’ve nailed the tiles. And the stone benchtops. It didn’t take too long. Four full days of comparing the subtleties of grey marble veins with grey but slightly more silvery marble veins, in various stores in Malaga, Wangara and Osbourne Park knocked it off. The virtues of Matt, Satin or Gloss finishes were discussed in detail and of course grouts needed to be scrutinised quite carefully. As soon as I took a picture of a ‘final’ combination choice, it would change before my eyes, but I didn’t mind. Oh no, I loved it.

And the names. Siver Statuario and Ethereal Noctis are right up there in the high nonsense bracket for me. And Grey isn’t grey – no, it’s Gris Expo. Matt isn’t matt, it’s ‘Suede’. White isn’t white, it’s ‘Polar White’, which is obviously a different white to the white slightly to the left of either pole, and more white than ‘Blizzard White’, which I just made up. And black has to be ‘Slate Black’, even though it’s black. But shine a light on it and it’s still black.

Nevertheless, the teams at Crosby Tiles and Cosantino Surfaces worked competently to arbitrate and resolve our collective choices. They are now final. Set in stone. Sorry about that last one. Here then, are the main selections…

Finally, we’re in a good position. We’ve got our pre-start meeting at the end of the month, and we have already chosen and agreed on a great many items on the pre-start checklist. Almost all of our choices are from the builder’s standard or delux range, so hopefully we’ll reduce or negate any delays in sourcing the materials. Onwards and upwards!

@Anne: For us, having so much in common, it was comparatively brisk!

@Chrisso: Haha yes, I can see the contradiction. I think it’s ‘natural-looking’, as in Cher.
