Nothing much has been happening lately. The Christmas Grinch has stolen all the work that is being done on our new house. No design is being done, no work on titles or settlement is being done. We are looking at different doors but that’s about it. I wonder if I’ll be writing a similar post this time next year…

Why couldn’t we have got Bob Cratchit as our home consultant? At least he had a decent work ethic – you know, the kind forged in fear. Look at Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit in ‘The Muppet Christmas Carol’. See how he’s hard at work under the wonderful supervision of Michael Caine? That’s who I want. Kermit the Frog doing our house design. Actually, he’d be better off doing the land titles – the shire are often referred to as a bunch of muppets.
As an aside, Michael only agreed to play Scrooge if he could play the character dead serious. “I’m going to play this movie like I’m working with the Royal Shakespeare Company”, Michael said. “I will not do anything Muppety.” Brian Henson thought “Yes, bang on”, and cast him on the spot. Not a lot of people know that.
To alleviate my boredom with Christmas, I paid another visit to the block the other day. The developers have done a lot since my last visit, with new roads and paths, as well as lots of wood chips to the verges that precede the ‘forever bush’. And I think we’ve now got the full complement of sand and retaining wall blocks. Quite impressed, actually – especially with the paving that marks the entrance to our street, I think this sort of paving denotes a more pedestrian-centric area and might encourage a more leisurely set of drivers – or more importantly – discourage the set of drivers that think rubber is better left on the road than on their tyres. Muppets. We also have a slow point halfway down our street, close to our block. Unfortunately, this could either be viewed as a discouragement, or a challenge!

And so I wandered about marvelling at the new additions and finishing touches that will make our ‘bush living’ experience very comfortable indeed. I’m impressed. The retaining walls look to be great quality, the paving and the kerbs also. The land seems to be finished off quite flat and hopefully that will make sure we’re not hit up for too many site costs at the start of the build. We’ve got the beginnings of a park at the end of our street, and I can see walkways that are going to be quite pleasant to experience.
Our block seems to have a very large drop at the rear, so much so that we may not have to look at a roof, and we may get a few city lights along the way. We’ll see – we might get a giraffe breeder next door.

I also took the drone up and had a fly. I’ll post those videos later, after I’ve edited out all the boring bits.
I bought an instant tent from the auctions a few days ago. It doesn’t have a scullery, but it goes up very quickly. You just pull the string, then peg it down. Do you want to borrow it while your house gets built?
@MyLupineFriend: I bet you wish that last pig bought a tent instead of building his house with bricks. Might have saved you a lot of huff and puff. Thanks for your kind offer of the tent, but as you have indicated it comes with strings attached. And, with all the wolves around lately, it might not be as safe as houses.
Update: I edited out all the boring bits from the drone video, which ended up empty because there are no exciting bits! So no video – but more posts and pics are coming.
